My hip was a bit stiff today and felt like it was going to pop out once again, but didn't. So far so good.

Workout #1

* 15 minutes on the elliptical followed by 5 minutes of arm exercises

I've come to the realization that one year from now I will be applying for teaching positions and attending my 20 year reunion. Being fat will make neither of those easy and it's time to lose the weight. I know a year will be enough time to get to a weight where I feel better about myself and fit into clothes that I enjoy wearing. I'm tired of adjusting things around my spare tire.

I'm also sure that losing the weight will make my hip problems feel much better.

August 19th workout: I tried the Kim Kardashian workout DVD. I made it throught the warm-up and workout number 1. I worked up a sweat. I do think the pace is a bit fast to get used to, but hopefully with more tries at it, I will be able to keep up.

Workin' it

I've decided to start a blog to keep my weight loss on track. It might be a bit embarrassing to admit how large I've allowed myself to get, but I'm hoping a public forum will start me on the track to getting to a less embarrassing weight. As of August 17th, I weigh 277 lbs. Wow, that sounds like a lot even on a 5'10" frame. I would like to be 100 lbs lighter by this time next year. Help me stay on track, please!
